What is Citicoline?
Citicoline consists of choline and cytidine together, and is also called CDP-choline. Citicoline is found naturally in the body's tissues, not least in the organs. Studies have been carried out on citicoline for memory and concentration as well as for effects against Alzheimer's disease. Choline is related to B vitamins, which are important for cell metabolism, and for the brain to function, choline also needs cytidine. Citicoline contains both choline and cytidine, which means that choline can be easily converted in the brain to the important substances acetylcholine and phosphatidylcholine.
Choline acts as the building blocks for cells and for neurotransmitters that send signals between muscles and nerves. Choline also contributes to normal liver function, normal fat metabolism and normal homocysteine metabolism, which is linked to, among other things, the brain's methylation process. The methylation process is a process that is responsible for detoxifying and repairing the body, as well as turning on and off genes. The process is biochemical and is affected by various life factors, environmental toxins and nutritional imbalances. Methylation is required for many important functions in the body, including cell division, immune cell formation and metabolism. When the methylation process does not function as it should, you are more easily affected by various health problems.
