Why is Wellatomin® recommended before bedtime?
Wellatomin® Premium can be used daily or when needed. The recommended daily dose is two capsules shortly before you go to bed, when you want to unwind and relax. As several of the active substances in Wellatomin® affect the nervous system, it’s also in the evening that they work best. A good night's sleep is important for our well-being and it is during the night while we sleep that several sleep hormones are released, such as melatonin.
What is melatonin?
Melatonin is a body-specific hormone that helps regulate the circadian rhythm in the body, and is one of our most talked about sleep hormones. Melatonin is secreted from the pineal gland based on light and dark. When it’s dark around us, the levels rise and peak between two and four in the morning. Thereafter, the secretion decreases and during the daylight hours the levels are low. Melatonin also has antioxidant properties with the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, helping to counteract free radicals and repair damaged molecules.
Did you know: Melatonin is also found in nature, including phytomelatonin (plant melatonin) in spirulina, alfalfa, rice, cherries and brown rice.
Substances in Wellatomin® Premium
Wellatomin® Premium contains a carefully selected composition of well-studied substances. This substance complex is completely natural with active substances that neither give rise to drowsiness nor have an addictive effect. The composition works effectively together, which makes it a very interesting option for those who want results but who want to avoid medications that can cause side effects.
GABA, Gamma-aminobutyric acid, is an amino acid that can be formed in the body where it acts as an activity-inhibiting neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. GABA is a body-specific substance and we can also get it through the diet, especially in fermented foods. Several studies have examined the body's response to GABA with interesting results (1).
L-theanine is another well-known amino acid that is found naturally in green tea in particular, and is the reason for the well-known advice to unwind with a cup of green tea in the evening. L-theanine effectively promotes the formation of GABA in the body, and helps with the release of serotonin and dopamine in the brain, two hormones that affect our mood. L-theanine is a well-studied substance and has been used in many studies on its effect on winding down (2). L-theanine is often available as a separate dietary supplement where 200 mg is a regular dose, and with Wellatomin® Premium you get 400 mg per dose.
Herbatonin® is a patented extract from rice (Oryza sativa), chlorella (Chlorella vulgaris) and alfafa (Medicago sativa). It is a well-documented extract with only natural substances. Among other things, Herbatonin has been studied in comparison with synthetic melatonin with a focus on its antioxidant properties with good results (3).
Vitamin B6 is a well-known vitamin that, among other things, contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system. Wellatomin® Premium includes vitamin B6, with 25 mg per daily dose.
Sleep tip! Do you find it difficult to wind down in the evening? Our body's sleep hormone melatonin reacts to light and dark. Turn off electronics and do not watch TV, computer or your mobile screen the hour before you go to bed.
What are sleep problems?
Sleep is one of our primary needs that needs to be met for the body and brain to function normally and for us to feel good. It is while we sleep that the body and brain recover, and most of us need at least seven hours of uninterrupted night's sleep. Stress, lack of time and anxiety about their life situation are common factors that can affect our sleep negatively, and we can have difficulty falling asleep, sleep restlessly and wake up easily with difficulty falling asleep again, which can affect many of us at times. Prolonged lack of sleep and restless sleep affect the rest of our lives - we become easily irritated, find it difficult to concentrate and in the worst case scenario, it can lead to both physical and mental illness.
