What is ashwagandha good for?
Ashwagandha has been used as a natural remedy in the Indian tradition of ayurveda for thousands of years. Here it functions as a "rayasan", which is the name given to something that is generally considered balancing, rejuvenating and strengthening. Today, ashwagandha is well studied and research shows many interesting results. One study (1) investigated whether supplements of ashwagandha can have a positive effect in connection with conditions such as stress, anxiety and depression. The study involved 60 people who experienced high stress levels. For 60 days, half of the group received 240 mg of ashwagandha extract while the other half received a placebo. The results showed improvements in all areas in the people who received ashwagandha, for example, the levels of the stress hormone cortisol had decreased significantly.
Ashwagandha is also an adaptogenic herb, which means that it is not addictive. Instead, it adapts to the body by normalizing bodily functions and restoring balance. You can therefore take supplements of ashwagandha for a long time without the effect decreasing.
Use and dosage
Healthwell Ashwagandha ECO has a recommended dosage of 1 teaspoon (2.5 g, 5 ml) per day. You can mix the powder into any drink, smoothie, yoghurt or whatever you choose. An easy and convenient way to take your daily supplement of ashwagandha!
What does it mean if a rice protein is EU-organic?
In organic food production, biodiversity, the conservation of natural resources, environmental practices and strict animal welfare are observed (2). In order for a product to be labeled as EU-organic, the label used within the EU, a product must meet strict conditions that apply to the entire production chain. The product must contain at least 95% organic ingredients, and the other 5% must meet additional strict conditions (2).
In organic crop production, it is important to promote soil fertility and to allow for perennial crop rotation and a cycle of organic material. Therefore, fertilizers, compost and plant protection products should only be used if they comply with the principles and objectives of organic production. In general, the EU requires that an organic food must be produced without synthetically produced chemical pesticides and without artificial fertilizers. In organic production, genetic engineering is also prohibited. In addition, organic production should rely mainly on renewable resources (2).
