How folic acid works
Among other things, folic acid contributes to normal cell division, cell growth, and genome, and therefore plays an important role in prenatal development during pregnancy. Folic acid also contributes to a normal immune system and the formation of red blood cells, thus helping to reduce fatigue and exhaustion. Folic acid is naturally present in foods and is abundant in egg yolk, legumes, and spinach. It is a water-soluble vitamin that cannot be stored in the body, and it is therefore important that we get it regularly through diet.
Women of childbearing age who plan to get pregnant at some point, and women who have recently become pregnant, are recommended to take folic acid supplements, as folic acid has the greatest effect on prenatal development in the first three months of pregnancy. The recommended daily dose is 400 milligrams, which equals 1 tablet of Healthwell Folic Acid daily.
