Extra highly-dosed L-lysine
Healthwell’s Lysine 1000 is a supplement with the amino acid lysine in an extra highly-dosed form. Amino acids act as building blocks for protein and lysine is particularly used in the building up of collagen, which builds up tissues such as skin, hair and cartilage. In addition, lysine is an essential amino acid, which means that the body must have it to function normally but that it must be supplied through the diet. Non-essential amino acids can be produced by the body itself under normal conditions. Healthwell’s Lysine 1000 contains 1000 mg of lysine per tablet in an easily absorbed form to give it the best possible effect.
- Lysine in an easily absorbed form
- Amino acid that must be added via the diet
- Builds up the protein collagen
- Collagen contributes to the elasticity of the skin
- 1000 mg lysine per serving
Tip! If you want to start with a lower dose, we have Lysin 500.
What does lysine do in the body?
Lysine is sold both as a separate supplement and as part of various combined protein supplements. Perhaps the most well-known property of lysine is that it contributes to the build-up of collagen, i.e. the substance that holds our joints and cartilage together and which gives the skin, hair and nails elasticity. For this reason, lysine is used by some as a beauty supplement to ensure that collagen production is as good as possible.
Lysine also acts as a precursor to another amino acid, namely carnitine. Carnitine is part of the body's mitochondria, a small part of our cells where nutrients and oxygen are converted into energy. In addition, lysine contributes to the absorption of calcium in the intestines, which plays a role in the normal function of the bone structure.
What does L-lysine mean? The fact that lysine occurs in the form of L-lysine means that it is broken down into as small a component as possible. This in turn makes the body's work of absorbing the lysine easier, and the body can start using the lysine quicker.
