Tyrosine 1000 from Healthwell is a highly-dosed dietary supplement with L-tyrosine, and as much as 1000 mg per tablet. The tablets are vegetable based and contain tyrosine in free form which is easy for the body to absorb. Daily recommendation is one tablet, and remember to take the tablet on an empty stomach before a meal to facilitate body absorption.

Tyrosine for the thyroid hormone

Tyrosine occurs naturally in protein-rich foods, in which it’s a building block. Tyrosine also plays a role in the production of hormones in the body, including thyroid hormone and dopamine. Thyroid hormone is important for the body's metabolism. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter commonly called the "feel-good hormone". Dopamine is also important for the production of adrenaline and norepinephrine, which in turn are linked with sharpness and focus.

Good to know for those who want to access the properties of tyrosine, is that tyrosine always competes for absorption in the body against other amino acids in the diet. Therefore, it is an advantage to take L-tyrosine on an empty stomach and in isolated form, without other protein-rich products.
